Composite is an anisotropic material with different physical properties in different directions by design. In applications where extra stiffness or axial strength are required the amount of glass fibres in the axial direction can be increased.
Akiet has Finite Element Modelling (FEM) software that takes this anisotropy into account, including the properties of its couplings, with which loads can be simulated. The stiffness, which is a significant property in applications where buckling behaviour is critical (such as in running semi-horizontal completions, is combined with properties like weight while suspended in drilling mud. Because of the limited weight and related friction with the side of the wellbore Akiet’s HSCC stiffness is ample to avoid problems with buckling.
